So, Occupy (insert location here) has been going on for some time now. The more I look the dumber it looks. The original goal was to stand up against banks and corporations which have hired lobbyists and paid into political coffers in order to sway the direction of governmental decision. I can get behind something like that. It’s a stance against corruption. As they say, power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

A week ago I decided to do something I’ve never done before. I got my first piercing. Most people go and get an eyebrow or an ear piercing as their first one. More often than not, it goes ears first, then something else. I went for the big show: my septum.

I would like to say, for the record, the initial piercing wasn’t so much painful as it was surprising. The final pop when the needle made it all the way through my septum was unexpected. The follow-through with the jewelry wasn’t particularly painful either. It was almost a single swift motion.

It got complicated and PAINFUL after that. See, I have a wide septum and it’s slightly deviated, so the piercer ran into a few difficulties with the standard jewelry. See, a septum retainer is kind of staple-shaped. Mine is a 16 gauge. Since my septum is wide and slightly deviated, the retainer didn’t sit right and probably would have caused problems in healing. That’s a bald-faced fucking lie. I’m not badass, but I am back. You’ll note, the last post happened sometime last September. That’s quite a little while in the blogosphere. Did I just ACTUALLY say blogosphere? Anyway, I’m practically a relic in online terms and most everyone has probably forgotten me already. I’m strangely okay with that.

Why did I fall off the edge of the world? If you are close to me, you already know the answer. If you aren’t then you’ll probably never know. Suffice to say, I’ve hit the new year with a whole new bag o’ shit to sling and spike right through the stone I call a heart. I’m taking this year as an opportunity to change direction and do whatever the hell I feel like doing. I’ll probably still post my fun little ranty blogs, but times, they are a-changin’.

It’s two weeks after the announcement of the Twitter redesign and guess what? There are a bunch of us who still don’t have access to it. Is it your fault? No. Are we going to blame you when you start rubbing it in everyone’s face that you got the new design? Fuck yes we are.

Yes, I’m fucking bitter. I use Twitter daily. Friends of mine who log in no more than once a week are starting to get access, yet I continue with the old interface. You know, I don’t even WANT the new fucking design anymore, honestly. I just want the motherfuckers who are rubbing it in my face to shut the fuck up.

I blame Twitter for my anger. They released the fucking redesign to people who were important to their PR first. Then they released it to the people who are rich, famous or both. I’m terribly sorry I don’t have one-hundred thousand or a million followers. I’m sorry that I’m not as important to you as Oprah or Ashton Kutcher.

None of the people Twitter released the redesign to first matter one fucking WIT to me. Most of the people I know couldn’t give a rat’s ass about them either.

In the end, Twitter, leave my account as is. I don’t want your fucking redesign. I stopped caring a week ago. Quit being a bunch of lilly-assed pansy-fucks and just release the design to the rest of the world (except me because I don’t fucking want it). You’ve had two weeks to figure out if it works. Stop being a bunch of assholes and fucking with your users. They hate you now.

In closing, all I can say is favoritism and random selection both suck worse than any other option for design release and, surprise, Twitter opted for BOTH tactics.

I posted this a week ago and just at the end of last week, Twitter proudly announced that “now more than 50% of Twitter users had the new design.” Good. fucking. job. While they’re at it they could say things like “now more than 50% of all inmates don’t get raped in jail.” Yeah, but that still leaves a lot of people bent over and fucked. If twitter were a little less successful this would probably KILL their fucking business model.

After poking about on the net today I discovered some troublesome information. It’s not the information itself which troubled me, but the apparent lack of understanding which went into the presentation of the data and what it could mean.

First I encountered an article discussing how America is losing the IQ race against other countries including Europe. The claim is made that Americans just aren’t producing thinkers anymore because our average intelligence is down. Moreover, he said he felt the average IQ for the US and Europe could be far higher if we tried harder.

There is a fundamental lack of understanding regarding the nature of IQ. Specifically, IQ is the mean of the current human intelligence. An IQ of 100 today may not equate to the same brainpower it equates to 500 years from now and probably isn’t the same as it was 500 years ago. Read more »
