Old websites, books your kids shouldn’t read and junkie pancakes

Alrighty! It’s been a while since I last posted on here, but it’s my blog, dammit, and I’ll do what I please. If I want to drag my feet, it’s my prerogative and I’ll do so. KTHXBYE! Anyway, I haven’t posted anything in a while because it has been a while since I have found enough compelling stuff all at once to actually get around to posting. It happens. So, what have I found today, kiddies? Well, first off, I found someone that went and used the internet wayback machine to check out some crappy old sites that companies had made. No, not Google. The Google site hasn’t changed a whole lot since they started. You go, you search. Done. Yahoo! should take a cue and do the same kind of thing. I remember when Yahoo! was a search engine first. Gone are those days. On the plus side, we can still look back at the miserable showings of companies like McDonald’s from 1996. Did they have some kid doing their site? God it was bad. Check it out:

Man, has anyone ever noticed that McDonald’s color scheme has a lot in common with the colors of Soviet Russia? Scary. Get back to work, you! There are a million others that would gladly do the work you are doing and share their house with another three families. That was a bad time… Anyway, I finally found someone that seems to want to talk sense about Linux and using it. I am really sick of the Linux fiends that are so fanatical that if you ever use a different operating system you are dead in their eyes. It’s inexcusable. This guy seems to have a pretty level head. Mind you he uses Gnome, and I have never really been a fan, but that’s just me. I like KDE. Anyway, go see what he has to say about open source in a non-extremist way. : )

Now, let’s take a look at some books that you should probably just not have your kids read. Now these titles are really hit or miss, but one that particularly amused me was the Paddington Bear spoof. I remember Paddington from when I was growing up. I almost convinced myself that I liked orange marmalade because of that bear. Now here is, homeless and drunk. I think he always was homeless… I don’t remember him ever having a home. Just kind of a traveling hobo bear. Anyway, here it is, Paddington Gets Tanked. : D

Ah… nothing like boozey bears. Speaking of booze, have you ever thought about the boozers that are popular artists? Poets, writers, musicians and the like always seem to have some sort of weird emotional screwiness going on. An article has been written about a semi-scientific study that was done showing that artists tend to have more emotional and mental problems than any other particular profession. Funny, I always seemed to know this. Especially since I am a musician… Interesting.

Speaking of substance abuse, have you ever wanted to make pancakes like a junkie would? Ok, fair. I hadn’t thought about it before, but now that I have seen it, I am amused. Take a look:
