Emma Watson, Blasphemy, B13 and Anonymous

Posted in Web Stuff on February 15th, 2008 by Ast

I’d like to start off with Emma Watson due to the fact that my site has currently received several hits due to people searching for Emma. I’m not sure why. I’m not going to discourage people from coming here if they enjoy the blog, regardless of whether it was Emma or the zombies, but either way I don’t quite get it. I thought that maybe she had turned 18 and people were having an Emma-gasm. Nope. She’s 17 until April. I checked Wikipedia for that one. So, then I thought that, perhaps, there were some naughty pictures that had popped up on the net. Nope. No news of that either, nor did I see anything when I did a Google search for “Emma Watson” that was worth mentioning. The only naughty pictures that I saw of Emma were photoshopped pics so people could fantasize. The biggest thing to hit the news is Emma being linked (apparently incorrectly) to Johnny Burrell of Razorlight. (see the picture below) So I am left confused. Why the big hubbub all of a sudden about Emma? Meh, whatever. She’s just the new Anna Kournikova. Guys like her because she’s young and cute. Personally, I think it is a little spooky to lust after Hermione Granger.

Let’s take a quick blasphemy break. : ) I enjoy a good prank as much as the next guy and this one was too good not to post. I don’t have a lot to say about it except “where’s the cop and the indian, guys?” Young man, you can stay at the…

So, while I was going to UCSD I used to see this clip played all the time. It was this cool chase scene from a movie or something, but I didn’t know what. Generally chase scenes involve cars and guns and that kind of thing. This one has guns, but not a whole lot in the way of cars. As a matter of fact, this is a chase that involves nothing but foot travel. I finally came across what this was from, a movie called B13. I know nothing about the plot, nor the actors. I just like the chase scene.

Finally, I have been debating for almost a week now as to whether I really wanted post information about Anonymous and the protesting that went on around the world on February 10. I finally decided that I probably should. I even bore witness to the San Diego, CA demonstration at Horton Plaza. Apparently most of the people that were demonstrating were doing so in front of their local Scientology building. Well, there’s one in San Diego too, but it’s actually on the corner of Ash and 4th while the protesters were on the corner of 4th and Broadway which is a full 4 blocks from the actual Scientology building. All the same, I keep seeing pictures from demonstrations around the globe, so I thought I should bring a little info and a couple of pictures.Apparently the Anonymous movement was started by the group “Project Chanology,” however don’t bother looking for them, as their site is gone. I guess they got butthurt because people thought they had a good thing going. Anonymous has been posting clips of Tom Cruise speaking about Scientology and speaking out due to their feeling that Scientology is trying to limit free speech on the internet. Now this comes as little surprise since people have seen Scientology sue people for defamation when they speak out against the church. Naturally, when Digg started pulling articles from the front page as soon as Scientology staff voiced concern people on the internet were bound to get upset.Anonymous-related Web Resources:

Zombie TueZday

Zombies and vampires and pirates oh my! Today is combo day. Zombie pirates, zombies VERSUS pirates, zombies versus vampires, that kind of thing. So, lets kick this thing off right, zombies versus pirates! I found this drawing of a zombie and a pirate thumb wrestling. I was quite amused. Pirates are tough people. They live on boats, sail and fight for a living. Undoubtedly, they are pretty strong. Zombies are dead, rotting flesh, walking. They don’t exercise, it probably wouldn’t do any good anyway. That being said, who do you think would win a thumb wrestling match? Yeah, I thought so.

From zombies vs pirates to zombie pirates, apparently someone is planning on making a stop-motion animation movie about zombie pirates. I would see this, I think. I’m not sure, from what I have seen thus far, that they aren’t goblin pirates in disguise, but I have been wrong, and if the artist says they are zombie pirates, then they are.

So, the “Federal Vampire and Zombie Agency” or the FVZA did a study to see who would win in a fight between a vampire and a zombie. Their results seem to show that a vampire would win 5 to 4, though I think these results would differ depending on the way you define what a vampire is. Intelligent, Vampire wins. Unintelligent, it would be a close fight. If you are interested in seeing the collected ‘data,’ click the ticket below.

Finally, do you need a way to fend off the zombie hordes? Me too. I have been trying to figure out what to do with that big bunch right outside my door. Now there is a product that will help. Zonk Brain Drink! How awesome is this? Ok, it’s not real and it contains no brain matter, so it really won’t help much after all, but the commercial is amusing.

Geek Girl of the Day

So, for this GGotD, I have decided to take the post back to its roots. Rather than finding some girl with all kinds of geek qualifications and encouraging people to respect geek women for the intelligent and beautiful people that they are, I provide, for you, flesh and electronics. What geek could resist? Imagine a naked girl wrapped in old Nintendo controllers and a game deck. Wait! Never mind. Here she is. Congrats, nameless Nintendo girl, you are Geek Girl of the Day! : ) (Mind you this is marginally safe for work.)

Zombie TueZdays

Posted in Web Stuff, Zombie TueZdays on February 5th, 2008 by Ast

Alright, so I think on Tuesdays that I remember I will try to find at least one zombie thing and post it here. I don’t know how I got so interested in zombies, but it’s fun. I have about 5 different bits and things and stuff and zombie parts for your enjoyment today. First off, I found a blog post in someone’s philosophy blog posing the question “can a zombie pass the Turing test?” Well, first off, how many of you know what the Turing test is? Don’t all raise your hands at once. Yes? You, the geeky one in the back. Hey everybody, look! It’s Wikipedia, sitting in the back of the auditorium. The Turing test is a test that was developed by Alan Turing to check and see if a robot with artificial intelligence (AI) can fool a human into believing the robot is also human. If the answer is yes, the robot is sufficiently intelligent. If the answer is no, the robot is not. Now, my answer to this situation is pretty simple, I think. If we assume that zombies are basically humans that have died and then come back to life, then they have suffered brain death. That being said, they would really be operating on the lizard brain alone. If that is true then they would fail the Turing test. Done. Stick that in your zombie and smoke it.

Source Question

Dandy. We got good and cerebral for a minite… Ok, we got as cerebral as I ever get on this blog. So, anyway, I found something on the Laughing Squid for the SECOND time now, and decided that I should post it here. Back in 2006 some artist got the bright idea that it would be amusing if zombies were to invade San Francisco. So… they did. : ) I personally like the photo shown below with the red-headed princess-in-a-bath-robe zombie. Cool idea. I wish I had thought of it first. : )

Ok, remember when Al Gore was running for president? Well as always there were people out encouraging voters to vote their way. Meanwhile, back in the batcave, some zombies got the wrong idea. “Gore? Goooorrrrreeee!!!!” And off they went. Zombies for GORE! Wrong gore, guys.

So, now that we have been talking about zombies, I guess a good question would be “how do I identify a zombie?” Lucky you, someone made a list of identifying characteristics. Beware, as they say, for, though corporate monkeys may appear to be zombies, THEY ARE NOT! Do NOT shoot someone in the head before making absolutely sure they are a zombie. After that, go right ahead.

Of course, I saved the best for last. If you are a true zombie lover, fanatic, whatever… You are definitely going to want one for yourself. You’ll especially want a pet zombie if you have seen Shaun of the Dead. By the way, if you haven’t see this movie yet you are dead to me. However if you are dead and ambulatory, be forewarned I believe in shooting zombies in the head so, go see the movie already. Anyway, here it is, My Pet Zombie!
